Loving Change - Chapter Six
"We got what we came here for. Let's just go now. I've had enough of this mortal hell." The rigidness of this stance, the constant flickering of this eyes - as if he were prey, watching for any predators, waiting for coming dangers. Sam agreed Tyron was at his limit with earth's cultures for one day, and that they were both more than ready for some peace and quiet.
"Fair enough. We'll just head home." 'Well, my home, at least. I need to stop acting like his home isn't far from here.' The fact that she kept forgetting Tyron's situation bothered Sam, 'I don't want him to think that I don't even care.' Beyond embarrassed with herself Sam was too distracted by her own shame to notice how upbeat the man beside seemed to be. 'Home. She considers her home to be mine too already. Maybe that little... issue, back there was in my favour.' Grinning like the Cheshire Cat, Tyron fell into step with Sam and slipped his free arm around her shoulders as they walked. For the very first time in his existence, Tyron was content with where he was in life, for a single moment he felt fully at peace.
...*...*...*...
The ride home was an experience in itself, and a memory neither is likely to forget - to say the least. All that will be mentioned is that Tyron still really hates cars. But once enough bargaining had been done on Sam's part, he accepted - what he thought was guaranteed death - and got into the car once more to return home. After that ordeal the drive was fairly uneventful and silent, not the uncomfortable quiet that turns the air stale with awkwardness but the kind of silence that creates a feeling of contentment and puts you at ease. Arriving home, however, brought a new set of problems to be dealt with. These problems being otherwise known as a pair named Dakota and Dimitri, or as Sam calls them; her oh so devious twin brothers. Instantly Tyron switched back into his protective mode after seeing the blonde headed duo waiting at the front door. 'In no way can this mean anything good. They haven't bothered me for years, so why now? What's happened?'
Anxiety growing higher and rising up in her till she felt in flowing through her veins, Sam's thoughts once happy thoughts grew tainted and sour. Questions swirled in both their minds, while Sam wondered why they were here, Tyron's questions were of a different nature, 'Who are they? And what do they want with Sam? Does she know them? Are they close with her?' The more he thought about different possibilities, the more he became unsure of who he was to Sam. Watching as the shiny golden haired men looked on their approach in the car created a deep well of doubt with his chest, no matter how he felt he still knew nothing about her.
"When we get out, go straight inside and to your room. Don't stop to talk to them or listen to anything they have to say.", Flinching away in fright at the sudden monotone sound of Sam's voice made her appear emotionless in that moment.
Orders were the last thing he was expecting to hear from her, let alone in such an uncharacteristic way, all while without taking her eyes off the road. His heart beat rapidly and his breathing quickened from the adrenaline seeping into his systems: he was afraid. He never imagined in his wildest dreams that Sam was capable of being like this, it made his afraid of what was to come if it made Sam react in such a way. "Let me handle this." Lilac eyes bore into the two that stayed waiting for them, like vultures waiting for their prey to die. Tyron's calculated gaze evaluated how much of a threat this pair really is, and whether he should ignore Sam's words to protect her. The deep humming of the powerful engine slowly died away until the vehicle was left motionless like a great beast losing a battle and accepting sleep.
The minutes it took the roller garage door to open felt like hours to Sam knowing that her brothers were watching their every move intently, well, as much as they could through the tinted car windows. Moving at a snail's pace into the garage Sam and Tyron waited until the door was fully closed until they even thought to move and inch. While they sat there completely still in the dark Tyron could see in the way Sam's hands gripped the stearing wheel, like her life depended on it, that she was nervous. He could see the fear consuming her beautifully auburn eyes as hot fire filled the pit of his stomach, anger building like the swarming protectiveness behind his eyes. It was then he knew he was not about to let her face this alone.
Shaky hands grasped the icy keys jingling against one another within her hold, retrieving them from the vehicles clutches. Swallowing the anxiety she forced herself to open the door, freeing herself from the confineds of the metallic cage. Steeling her posture, so she showed no fear and looked as if she would give no ground, she moved at the speed of light into the house and made her way to the foreboding front door. In her frantic haste she had failed to take notice that hovering just behind her was her disobedient ravenette guardian angel.
With a quivering grasp on the door handle, and a pause for a few deep breaths, Sam mentally prepared herself for whatever drama was about to turn her peaceful life into a raging storm of painful memories. Cracking open the door just enough to peak out from behind, Sam instantly made eye contact with startlingly neon blue eyes. 'Dimitri'.
"What was important enough that you'd come find me?" Sam was proud that she was able to keep the shake out of her voice.
A deep dry chuckle could be heard from behind Dimitri followed shortly after by a sarcastic voice, " Won't even give a hug to your favourite lads? That hurts." Sam watched as the baby blues rolled in their sockets out of annoyance before locing their gaze back on Sam's own auburn gems.
"It's Nikolai.", Veins froze instantly and all breathing stopped at the mention of that name. Sam's entire world spun before stopping all together as darkness clouded everything. "He's dying, Sam. And he wants to see you one last time." Dimitri informed with the type of hoarse voice you have after too much crying. He waited and watched closely like a worried parent to see what her reaction would be.
Fear, hopelessness, and panic meet head on with shock, stress, and pain to create a new suffering Sam could not describe. She had no idea how she should be feeling in this instance but she could no longer feel her limbs, as if they were no longer there - or never had been. Then she felt her body systems going down as her body was switching itself off; all the emtions running through her mind, all the fear, was creating too much her body couldn't keep cope.
"Sammy!" She could hear her brothers shouting at her but she didn't know what was happening; her mind was fuzzy and untranslatable.
All she knew was that it felt like she had lost all oxygen, gasping like a fish out of water she prayed to any god that could hear her for something to save her. Then like a wave crashing down, comfort surrounded her in the form of strong arms and lavender gems looking back at her before pitch black darkness consumed everything.
"I told you she wouldn't take it well. But do you ever listen to me?" Dokata sassed while Dimitri, on the other hand, was not bothered with answering his twin as all his attention was fixed like crosshairs on the odd looking stranger holding their princess. Tyron pressed as tightly to him as he could while the alabaster old vintage door slowly creaked open.
"Let her go." Dimitri didn't care who he was; a friend, a housemate, or whoever the hell this guy is - no one touches his princess, not while he's around.
"What?" Dakota finally came inside after hearing his brother talk to someone known, then he too laid eyes on man, and now both brothers were trying to slowly shift their weight into a ready fighting stance in case things went bad without this random noticing. But this was no mere man, this is Tyron; price of planet Ragsuda, a warrior and magician - he knew exactly what they were doing.
Glaring a firey rage from where he firmly stood, feet planted like roots beneath him into the floor and Sam held tightly against so that she wouldn't hit the floor.
"Says the one who made her faint.", snarling, Tyron lifted her so that he carried her in his arms like the queen she is. "I'd give her to you over my dead body." 'I might not be god with magic anymore, but I'm still a trained warrior ... But I can't use my arms - I'm holding Sam. Shit.' Slowly putting one of his feet behind him, ready to bolt away at a moment's notice with all of his natural inhuman abilities.
In the time it took Tyron to blink a blurred ball of fur flew past him and stood guard in front of him; teeth barred and growling - ready to attack.
"Damn this mutt!" Dakota hissed, taking a step back in case he needed to run for it from the wolf.
"Colton. Stay. Colton, sit.", Dimitri hoped the canine would remember him and stand down. Dimitri knew in the back of his mind though that whoever this stranger was, he had to be around pretty often to have earned Colton's trust.
"Colton, it's just us." In return the wolf hybrid gnashed his jaws and began pacing forward like a predator closing in on its prey. The twins backed up as far as they could but they were not going to give up and leave, not while their sister was still in the arms of the random man. Dakota glared into the eyes of the ravenette and warned him, "Last chance. Hand her over or there will be trouble." Tyron's brain raced for a way to get out of this with both he and Sam in one piece - and together - but it seemed that his silver tongue had finally failed him.
