A New Dawn

A poem by J. Jammy May

Arise children of the new generation

Step forward warriors of the next era

For this was forced upon you at creation

Because their life as-is is a chimera.

Let that fear age like wine into strength and power

Into determination deep in your bones

You know pain too well; a friend of old hours

That is why you don't shake at the hurtled stones.

The old stopped caring what happens to this world

They bring forth the end of their time onto us

But you care; you will see this come unfurled

You will see the new coming and teach thus:

Let there be no more libraries burned to ash

No more innocents in the dark mistreated

No more silent screams over emotions rash

Let history not again be repeated.

Arise children of the new generation

Step forward warriors, healers and leaders

Stay holding tight to your imagination

You will not fall to become simple beaters.

In this day and age, and the one becoming

You will do more than simply stand by and cheer

For you are not the force that is still coming

You are the unyielding might already here.
